My name is Dr. Alexandra Lamm, and I’m a counseling psychologist. I am licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey, and PSYPACT states. I founded Saltaire Psychology because I believe that everyone can use a little help dealing with the difficult moments in life. These unexpected events can throw your whole life into chaos. Scientists call this “entropy.” Entropy is when a system falls apart. It’s a force of nature that plays out all across the universe, especially in our own lives. Entropy is unavoidable, but how you cope with it is a choice, and I’m here to help.
I completed my PhD at Fordham University and internship/post-doctoral training at the Brooklyn Veteran Affairs Medical Center. I consider myself a humanistic psychologist at heart using authenticity, unconditional support, and empathy to help patients cope with difficult moments. I also use psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral techniques.
I have published research and presented at international conferences on a variety of topics including psych-oncology, post-traumatic growth, illness-related anxiety, and weight management.
Relationships are a major source of stress in all of our lives. Your significant other broke up with you. Your partner cheated on you. You decided to leave a toxic marriage. You're unsure if you're in the right relationship. Whatever happened, we can talk through it together.
Health problems can throw your whole life into chaos. Maybe you just received your diagnosis, or maybe you’ve been living with a chronic illness for years. We can help you learn how to cope and grow from the experience.
Coping with the loss of a loved can be unbearably painful. During these moments, we often question our whole lives and wonder how we are possibly going to move forward. We are here to support you through this journey and help you rebuild.
You can’t fall asleep. You can’t stay asleep. You’re waking up too early. When you’re not well rested, it’s hard to function, and life can start to unravel. We can provide you with evidence-based strategies to help you get a better night’s sleep.
Major life transitions often add a sudden burst of chaos into your life. You graduated. You retired. You got pregnant. You started a new job or lost your old job. If you want support or guidance in this new stage of life, let’s talk.
Traumatic experiences alter the way we see the world. Whether it happened during your childhood or the last year, it’s hard to carry that kind of weight around. Maybe you’ve never even talked about it with anyone. Therapy can help you process your experiences and cultivate post-traumatic growth.
We are here to listen and help you work through the stress in your life. We tailor our approach to your unique concerns with a range of different techniques.
Couples can get into a cycle in which the same issues keep coming up. We are here to help couples understand their dynamic better. Identifying relational patterns and how one’s past informs one’s current relationship functioning can help couples make informed decisions about their future.
Sometimes talking to other people who have dealt with similar types of concerns is validating, normalizing, and illuminating. We are here to provide psychoeducation and facilitate these conversations so you can heal together.

We are an in-network provider with XXXX.
We work with all other insurance companies as an out-of-network provider and will provide the necessary paperwork for patients to file for reimbursement.
To determine if your insurance company provides out-of-network benefits call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
Do I have out-of-network mental health insurance benefits?
Do my benefits provide coverage for both in-person and teletherapy visits?
What is my deductible? Has it already been met?
How many sessions per year are covered by my plan?
How much is reimbursed for each therapy session?

Some people just want to talk things through for a few visits, others will meet weekly over a longer period of time. Together we’ll come up with a plan that meets your needs.
We do not prescribed medication. However, we will assess your need for and interest in medication and provide referrals to psychiatrists as appropriate.
